Both of these paintings are essentially based on the same photo of a forest in Japan in autumn. I originally selected it just because I really liked the colours. Both are impressionistic, but for me the most interesting thing is how much less scratchy my style has become (see also: fire) in the last two years. This is probably the kind of painting that I could sit working on indefinitly though, so for a finite time limit, relativly pleased, even if the broader frame means this lacks some of the colour complexity of the original.
